REALTOR® Magazine-Daily News-Could Mortgage Rates Drop to 5 Percent?

REALTOR® Magazine-Daily News-Could Mortgage Rates Drop to 5 Percent?: "Daily Real Estate News | November 6, 2007 Could Mortgage Rates Drop to 5 Percent? The manager of the world’s largest bond fund predicted Monday that the Federal Reserve “cannot afford” to let U.S. housing prices fall and will have to cut interest rates aggressively to prevent it from happening. 'A Fed cannot afford to let homes go down by 10 to 15 percent like we saw in Japan,' Bill Gross, chief investment officer of Pacific Investment Management Co., said on CNBC Television. 'We've only begun to see the pain from the standpoint of the home owner in terms of those monthly payments. Defaults and delinquencies will increase as we extend throughout 2007 and then into 2008.' Gross expects the Fed to cut the federal funds short-term rate to 3.5 percent, which implies that the 30-year mortgage rates will come down to 5 percent to 5.5 percent. Kitchen Trend Report Inspires Kitchen Lovers
by PJ Wade

In residential real estate, it's kitchens and bathrooms that count -- in more ways than one -- but too often the full significance of their contribution is overlooked and, therefore, full investment potential may not be realized. Consequently, property owners may settle for substandard, even unsafe, living conditions or may concentrate on short-term fads instead of long-term gains when renovating.

Kitchens and bathrooms are value elements that can be responsible for the greatest return on renovation investment. The state of one or both of these rooms may be the deal maker or deal breaker in a real estate sale. The design of this necessary duo can also make a home more liveable, particularly for those facing physical or mobility limitations. Representing the true comfort and luxury centres of a home, do these two multi-function essentials receive the respect they deserve? Read more here:

Labor Day Weekend!

How is it that spring, summer and fall go so quickly and winter hangs on forever?

Parents, as much as they love their children, were seen celebrating over a peaceful cup of coffee after sending the kids off to school. The kids (the younger ones) were just as happy to get back to school and see their friends.

Me? I now have to remember that school has started so I don't get stuck behind the long lines of school buses as I'm trying to make an appointment.

Have a great holiday weekend. Enjoy the last hurrah of summer....September is a month to savour the fabulous weather the less crowded roads and beaches.

Summer of 2007 Soon A Memory

I hope they were good ones!

Cookouts with family and friends, trips to the beach, Four Seas Ice Cream, hot dogs at the Barnicle, outdoor concerts, sand hidden everywhere, long days that aren't long enough...these are just a few of the highlights of summer that always goes to quickly.

Today I was reading an article in the Cape Cod Times about rose hips which are plentiful on Cape Cod. They described them as "the seed-bearing fruit of the abundant salt-spray rose, also known as Rosa rugosa. It's no Cape native, but the wash-ashore has helped stabilize dunes, sweetly scent the air in June and provide fruit for a little-known jelly." Just reading that made me feel summer on the Cape.

I always loved rosa rugosa that lined homes along the shore as well as inland...they were/are a part of the season....always a sure sign summer was here as they came into bloom. There's something special about the seashore and summer.....for a child it can be almost magical. I still remember the excitement when school was out and the endless days to fill with wonderful surprises. Rosa rugosa, the smell of the salt air after a storm, flowers in bloom everywhere, sand between my toes, salt on my lips, simple treasures everywhere....it all comes back.

How about you? Have you started your Cape Cod memories or are they still just dreams?

Memories to cherish.........Create them.

What's Happening In Hyannis This Month?

I just received the Town of Barnstable newsletter with updates on what is happening.

The revitalization of Hyannis also brought new activities to downtown. Here are a few fun things you might enjoy:

Check out the "Harbor your Arts Artist Shanties"
at Bismore Park, Hyannis Harbor, Ocean Street
Open Daily 11 am to 7 pm
I recently had lunch at Spankys which overlooks Hyannis Harbor. We then strolled through the seven shanties that have local artists who create and sell their work there.
You will find the talented artists display a variety of items including photography, painting, woodcarving, ceramics and more. I enjoyed chatting with them as I browsed through their shanties. The shanties are well groomed with walkways that host beautiful hydrangeas as well as other plantings. Oh and by the way Spankys was an enjoyable experience as well. We had to wait 10 minutes because it was so busy(at 2:00 when most places are empty). The food was great and so was the service.

Tuesdays Through August 28 You can enjoy
The Citizens Bank Summer Concerts located
Aselton Park, Hyannis aas well as the Osterville Village Library
Tuesdays at 6:00 pm through August 28th
The Town has partnered with the Arts Foundation of Cape
Cod and Citizens Bank to offer free concerts on Hyannis Harbor
and Osterville Village each Tuesday from July 10 through August
28. Musical offerings range from smooth jazz to progressive folk.

Free Friday Night
Summer Concert Series
Aselton Park, Hyannis Harbor
Fridays at 6:00 pm through August 31st
Start your weekend out right! Spread out a blanket and enjoy the
harbor view and the musical sounds, featuring Johnny Hoy and the
Bluefish, George Gritzbach Band, and more.
Generously sponsored by Bank of Cape Cod and Hy-Line Cruises.
Thank you to our partners, the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s John and Abigail Adams Arts Program, the Arts Foundation of Cape
Cod, the Cape Cod Economic Development Council, the Cape Cod Art Association, the Guyer Barn Gallery and Art Center, the Main Street Hyannis Business Improvement District and the Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce for their generous contributions and support
of the Harbor your Arts Programs.

Don’t miss the Toe Jam Puppet Band Sundays - August 12th, 19th, & 26th starting at 4 pm.

Summer On Cape Cod. Memories To Treasure.

The sweet smell of the ocean assails your nostrils as you approach the bridge. The temperature is a good 10 degrees cooler than the city. Memories of summers past linger as you relax and look forward to the days ahead.

Packing up to go to the beach, hot dogs at "The Barnicle", sunbathing on the sandy shores, trips to "Four Seas", clamming, quahogging, oystering, where and when permitted, strawberry picking, rosa rugosa along the shores, white picket fences, blue hydrangeas, Cape Cod clambakes and boat rides to Sandy Neck are just a few of the treasured memories. Have you started yours yet?

The Fourth of July is tomorrow. Our grown children, spouses and their children will all gather for the little parade down by the "Avenues" beach in West Hyannisport where the neighborhood gathers for coffee, juice and donuts as well as some face painting and more. Later there's cookouts and fireworks and tired children who have just begun their special summer memories which they are soon to cherish.

Ready to start your "Cape Cod Memories To Treasure"?

Good Things Coming. Hyannis Youth and Community Center

Just In From The Town of Barnstable News Letter

The Hyannis Youth and Community Center was on the agenda of the May 24th Town
Council Meeting for a supplemental appropriation of $6.7 million for the purpose of
funding additional acquisitions and expanding the building size - now 100,000 square
feet. Members of the general public and the Barnstable Youth Commission spoke on
the proposal which gained approval.

This may result in as much as a nine month postponement
for the ground-breaking as the architects re-work the plans in order to increase
the seating capacity to over 1,700 in one rink and 250 in the second rink. The
gymnasium will also be enlarged to accommodate a competition basketball court with
two full cross courts and with seating for 500 spectators and an elevated three-lane
indoor jogging track around the gynasium. The snack bar concession and dining area
will also be expanded for the increased number of spectators as will the parking area.

It will surely be worth the wait as the completed project will be a Youth and Community Center facility of which Barnstable residents can all be extremely proud!

Rainy Days And Saturdays On The Cape

Not much going on today with this weather. Although it's unseasonally warm (57) it is raining quite heavily and the wind is blowing quite hard. I love going down to the ocean on days like this to see the storm surf. Hopefully there were no more dolphin strandings today. Hard to understand why that happens, but unfortunately it seems to happen every year.

We are so lucky this is not snow!

Although today may not be a great day to be looking at homes because of the rain, tomorrow is looking much better.... it's suppose to be sunny and around 50 degrees. Call me if ready to purchase or just ready to look. My web site at http://www.capecodrelo.com can help you get started and I am always here to help.

Don't want to look at homes tomorrow? Then play golf.....I am sure plenty of our dedicated golfers will be out there on the links tomorrow! Spring golfing in the middle of winter, you gotta love it!

Happy New Year!

Okay, a few days late, but sincerely wished.

The holidays are over and with that it appears there is a renewed interest in the real estate market. The phones are ringing again!

The news reports show that sales were down last month, but prices were not. However I do have to say that the prices from $1 to $400,000 have definitely seen a correction. The corrections are mainly in homes that require updating and/or total renovation. Homes that are in good condition, show well and are updated have not really seen a loss in value. I believe it is because we have a large revolving retiree population on the Cape and they usually do not want a rehab. A little bit of work is okay, but nothing major.

Interest rates are still great...around 6.25% to 6.50%....you can't hate that! Innovated financing for 1st time home buyers as well as for seasoned buyers is readily available. There appears to be a program for almost every need.

Go to my real estate web site if you need mortgage information, mortgage calculator, mortgage rates or of course information on homes for sale on Cape Cod. Call or email me if I can help.
